Adjunct Professor Jim Taggart OAM DBA JP

Jim's career began as a Teacher and a Deputy Principal of a Catholic High School. He has worked extensively in the business, financial and education sectors. He has driven change and has been actively involved in the community in both executive and non-executive capacities for over 45 years. Jim has extensive skills in the areas of corporate governance, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and community involvement.  Additionally, Jim has held many positions for Chairman, Non-executive committee member, Audit, and Risk and Financial services sectors. Jim is married with four children. He has completed another master’s degree in commerce, majoring in Financial Planning to add to his other qualifications of Diploma of Teaching, Bachelor of Arts, and a Master of Arts from Macquarie University.

In December 2009 Jim completed his Doctor of Business Administration degree and received acknowledgement of his Doctorate in January 2010. Also in January 2010, Jim was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the Australia Day Honours. His community involvement brings energy, influence, and a determination to build positive change to the organizations Jim is involved.

In the field of writing Jim has written two books while he was teaching with his senior geography text winning a geography award. In recent times Jim has written many articles for industry publications as well as newsletter articles for various networking associations.

Jim has been actively involved in community activities for over 45 years such as:

  • Vice President of Regional Chamber of Commerce 1999 – 2000.
  • Past board member of Gilroy College and Marion College.
  • Past Chairperson and current member of the Hills Excellence in Business Committee 355 Management Committee.
  • Past Chairman of the Advisory Council for TAFE NSW Western Sydney Institute.
  • Salvation Army (Chairman, Deputy Chairman of Red Shield Appeal).
  • Chairman of the Association of Financial Advisors for Australia and Assistant Secretary with the Association of Financial Services for Asia.
  • Ambassador for Zest Awards.
  • Original Co-founder of Hills Mayoral Sleep out, now called Hills Winter Sleep out.
  • Investment Board Member for the Parramatta Diocese.
  • Adjunct Professor for Notre Dame University.
  • Deputy Chairman of Riverside Theatre.
  • Chairman/ Chancellor of Asia Pacific International College.
  • Deputy Chairman and Treasurer, Regional Development Corporation.
  • Patron for PCYC Parramatta.

Jim has been fortunate to speak at offshore conferences in the areas of Financial Planning and Motivation in such countries as Switzerland, New Zealand, and U.S.A.

In November 2005 Jim was awarded the 2005 Zurich / Association of Financial Advisers [AFA] Adviser of the Year Award. In January 2006 Jim was presented with the 2006 Baulkham Hills Shire Australia Day Community Service Award.
