International Women's Day 2023

International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on the 8th of March not only to commemorate and honour women’s accomplishments, but also to raise awareness on gender disparities and discrimination. This day is also utilized to promote global support for women. The celebration of International Women’s Day serves as a focal point in women’s rights movement. The theme for this year’s celebration is #EmbraceEquity and in order to aptly live up to the message, we must recognize and celebrate the progress made in the past decades. The aim of this year’s theme to get the world talking about why equal opportunities are not enough. True inclusion and belonging require equitable action because people start from different places with different resources. We, as a community, must continuously create a safe and inclusive environment.

Participants from our Lavender Cottage made paper flowers with individual compliments to give out to all staff, participants, and carers to celebrate International Women’s Day and take part in the message of #EmbraceEquity.
